Together We Can!

Jared was recognized at the school board meeting tonight for his achievement in the 2011 PTA Reflections contest. We are very proud of him!!

Reflections is a program sponsored by PTA which challenges students to create art inspired by a specific theme. There are six categories- dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts. This year's theme was "Together We Can".

Jared received an Award of Excellence at the state level for his literature submission which was called Going to Mars. It was a story about how he and a friend helped each other to achieve their goal of becoming astronauts and traveling on a mission to Mars.

From the Texas PTA Website:
Texas students created nearly 70,000 entries for our 2010-2011 Reflections program, Together We Can. Of the 1900 pieces that advanced to Texas PTA, we are proud to have awarded more than 900 students for their outstanding work! Students were recognized with Honorable Mention, Award of Merit, Award of Excellence or Overall Award of Excellence. (Only 24 are chosen to receive the Overall Award of Excellence and go on to the National competition. Jared's entry did not make it to this level, but he got the Award of Excellence at the state level.)

Two Years Old!!

Lindsey getting ready for the big day:

Minnie Mouse Birthday party (Saturday, April 9th):

Happy birthday to my sweet baby girl!! (She's not really a baby anymore- *sigh*) On Monday she ran into her room, and when I got there to see what she was doing, I found her IN her crib. She had climbed in!! As long as she doesn't climb OUT...we're ok for a little longer. I am not ready to be cribless!! Boo hoo!

She is so smart!! We took the family to IHOP last week for dinner, and in the car on the way home Jared was telling Lindsey that he had an omelette and asked her what she had. She answered, "Umm...I have extra plate." Yes she did! It's the old, "I'll have this, they'll have this, and can you just bring her an extra plate?" She doesn't miss a trick! She loves singing songs lately. She can sing her abc's, and count to ten!
