Onward and Upward!

This weekend was the end of season basketball tournament for Jared's team. They had an awesome season, losing only one game this year! I was very impressed with these boys- we had some great ball handlers, three point shooters, and rebounders! They worked very well together, passed the ball around, and I think they learned a lot. Jared was a very good rebounder and hustler on defense- and he scored 12 points this season. Now it's on to baseball...

Another milestone this weekend, was that Jared crossed over into Boy Scouts. We attended the "Blue and Gold Banquet" Saturday night where he was officially welcomed into the troop. Steve also received a plaque recognizing his years as Den Leader. I'm very proud of both of them for 5 years of hard work!! The theme was "Scouts in Shining Armor"- and we made a dessert to go along with the theme...

Snow Day 2011

What a crazy weather week! Last weekend, we were in shorts and this weekend we are playing in the snow! Good old Texas weather! Monday night the front came through, and they canceled school Tuesday morning- although the roads were fine. (I heard later that a few campuses had power outages.) It was windy and bitterly cold, though! Tuesday night the power went out around 8:30 p.m. and then came back on around 11:45 p.m. The next morning, the kids were getting ready for school, and our power went out again around 7 a.m. The kids still went to school, and the power came back on about 10 a.m. Thursday was a normal day, and then Thursday night as I was coming out of my bible study- SNOW! School was canceled again Friday, and we played outside. It hasn't gotten above freezing since Tuesday- but is supposed to warm up today (Saturday). It's been fun, but I'm ready for some warmer weather!!

Lindsey loved the snow (her 2nd, but I'm sure she does not remember). She was all into building the snowman!! Not too bad at it, either!

Arrow of Light

Jared earned his Arrow of Light in cub scouts tonight. This is the highest award you can earn as a cub scout- and the only one you can wear on your boy scout uniform. Mimi and Pa came up for the ceremony, and it was a special night! Way to go Steve and Jared!!

Happy New Year and Swiper the Fox

After watching her new Dora dvd on our road trip to Branson, Lindsey's become even more interested in her Dora things. For those who don't know, Swiper the fox likes to swipe Dora's things, so you have to spot him and say, "Swiper, no swiping!" and then he says, "Aww, man!" I think she's got it down!
